Using Psychedelics to Alleviate Depression
Spirituality is attributed to alleviating depression and depressive symptoms. LSD and psychedelics allow you to reach a deeper spiritual state. Those who live a life based deeply on spirituality tend to suffer from depression less frequently. You need to understand how all of this works, however, because simply using LSD will not be effective. You have to understand how to use LSD to get to a deeper state of spirituality so that you can improve your mindset and mental health on a deeper level.
It is important to know how depression affects the body to see how LSD might be able to help. When you have depression, there is a shift in the chemicals in your brain. To treat depression, you have to elevate the mood while balancing these brain chemicals. LSD has properties and compounds that might help with both of these issues, allowing you to alleviate your depression symptoms. The use of LSD for depression goes back decades and studies show that it has promising results.
How the Research Works
There have been a number of studies to look at how LSD might be able to help those with depression. While the studies are all different, a number of studies work in the following manner:
The scientist will talk to each participant before and after they experience LSD. This allows the scientist to establish how they feel before and after their LSD experience. Many scientists also follow up with the participants at some point in the near future to determine if they had any lasting effects from their LSD experience.
How LSD Works to Alleviate Depression
Since LSD is not legal in the United States, the research is limited at this time. So, researchers are still trying to determine exactly how LSD and other psychedelics work to alleviate depression. There are a number of theories that they are working with. The first theory is that LSD works to open specific pathways in the brain, allowing someone’s emotions to flow freely. This allows them to feel more connected to themselves and the world around them, lessening the fear and other negative feelings that they are experiencing.
Another theory is that LSD allows someone to become more spiritual and it is proven that spiritual people tend to experience depression less frequently. How spirituality aids in alleviating depression is something that researchers are looking into more and more. They believe that since spirituality opens the mind and allows a person to be more grounded, that this lessens the negative feelings that can contribute to depression. This results in a higher degree of happiness and fewer negative emotions.
It is important to note that simply using LSD recreationally will not do much to aid with depression. Those using LSD for this purpose must use it much like they use a prescription antidepressant. The dosage must be right and they must use the LSD properly to experience the positive effects.
Users must learn about the proper environment for using LSD and they must work with someone experienced so that they go into an LSD experience in the right frame of mind. Researchers are working to determine the right dose and how to properly use this drug for the most beneficial effects.
When you reach a deeper spiritual plane, you are able to fully see and appreciate your mental health status. This allows you to make changes from within. Now, this does not mean that you simply get over your depression because this is not possible due to it being characterized by changes in your brain chemistry. However, when you get to a deeper level of spirituality, this allows you to change how you think and view the world, allowing you to overcome depression. This works similar to how medical depression treatments work.
