Spiritual wellness and purpose go hand in hand. It plays a very big role in your life and refers to where you are from, who you are, why you are here and where you are going. Spiritual poverty can be caused by negative feelings and thoughts, which can leave you unhappy and frustrated.
It is shown by certain studies that religious and spiritual involvement is linked to better mental, emotional and physical health.
What does fulfill your spirituality?
Many people have different meanings to spiritual wellness. Some religious members find understanding and comfort through teachings of faith. If nature is where you are happiest, you best understand through presence of animals, walks in the woods and other physical beings.
Volunteering and contributing to society are some great ways to gain spiritual wellness if you find purpose and meaning through the held and service to others.
The mind, spirit and body needs to be balanced in order to live a fulfilled and healthy life. Keep in mind, every person is different! What is right and balanced for one person may not be for another person. Some may feel fulfilled when they are dedicated to living a luxurious life making money. Others need to work to make the environment better or help others make their lives better.
How can you improve your spiritual wellness?
Every day, make time for yourself! Do something that is meaningful to you. What are you passionate about? If it’s saying a prayer, meditating or enjoying a certain activity, do what makes you happy!
Spiritual experiences need to be looked at as very powerful, even when it is unexpected. Be open to these experiences!
Do not be judgmental and have an open mind. Practice compassion, understanding and forgiveness. Don’t blame, complain or make gossip and excuses!
All experiences, good or bad, be open to them. Sorrow and pain are a normal part of life. Look for the positive aspects off all that happens and you will be better off spiritually than if your energy is spent looking at the negative.
Open yourself to the unknown, meditate and pray. You are not hear to blame, worry and complain, but to live a joyful, meaningful life.
In what ways can you maintain spiritual wellness?
> Develop a relationship with yourself. You are the only person who knows the best way to do this! Keep a journal and write short stories, poetry or your feelings. Talk positively to yourself and take quizzes on personality.
> Talk and pray to whoever it is you worship. Pray before you go to bed at night!
> Read! Try studying and reading new things to improve your intelligence and exercise your mind.
> Meditate to maintain your spiritual health. It doesn’t matter if you meditate before bed, after waking up or after getting home from school or work.
> Take deep breaths! Each day, turn off the TV, computer and IPods and breathe deeply. Doing this will help you to be attached to your inner feelings and thoughts.
> Follow your feelings and listen to that inner voice! Your inner voice usually will tell you the right decision. Rather than doing something you will regret, stick to your gut instincts.
> Laugh and sing aloud. You will be surprised to see how your feelings towards life and yourself will improve with such simple things!
> Take nothing for granted. Explore nature as if you are seeing it for the first time ever. Do certain things blindfolded such as playing with your pet, talking to someone or watching TV. You will realize how good you have it.
> Think about others and do something for a person each and every day! Give to charity, pay a compliment to someone or help a person carry their books. You will feel good about yourself and will also be making another person feel good, as well!
> Read and watch uplifting material. Watch a movie that is uplifting or read a story that is inspirational.
Spiritual wellness is the key to living a joyous life!
Developing and practicing spiritual wellness will provide you with peach, love, success, joy, prosperity and fulfillment. Nobody will get spiritual enlightenment in a day. It takes a lot of discipline, but the efforts put into it will pay off!
