Reignite the Fire in Your Marriage
Have you been feeling disconnected with your spouse? Have you been looking for that new feeling from when you first met your spouse? Have you been thinking that your marriage isn’t fun anymore? If you have thought any of these things then you may very well be bored in your marriage. Being bored in a marriage is never a good thing and it can cause many other problems in your relationship with your spouse as well. You may find that you and your spouse aren’t communicating as well anymore. You may find that you and your spouse aren’t doing as much together anymore either. For over a year my husband and I were completely disconnected and it was because I was bored (he may have been bored as well). We basically just lived together. One day he brought up the idea of splitting up and I knew something had to be done. I talked to him about my boredom and my need to feel connected again and we have tried some things in our marriage that have been working to get rid of this boredom and you can do this in your marriage as well.
What are some things that you can do to get rid of boredom in your marriage?
Boredom doesn’t have to ruin your marriage and it certainly doesn’t have to stick around. When you are in a marriage it is important to spend time with that person. While the new feeling that you get when you first enter into a relationship won’t last forever that doesn’t mean that you can’t still do things to make your marriage and your relationship fun.
Do things spontaneously every once in a while. One of the many reasons that marriage starts to get boring (yes, this happens and it is one of the reasons that mine did as well) is because there are no spontaneous actions anymore. Yes, life has to be taken seriously from time to time and when your family is busy you have to make plans and stick to a schedule. However, this does not mean that you can’t be spontaneous. On a weekend you can just get in the car and go somewhere without planning it out. On a day that you and your spouse have off work you can find something fun to do or take turns surprising each other with something.
Go on surprise dates with your spouse (take turns planning out the date). One of the biggest mistakes that some women make is thinking that men don’t want romance or surprises. The problem is that many of them actually do. Sometimes the reason (this again happened in my marriage) the man doesn’t take the woman on dates as much is because they want the woman to plan some dates as well. Even if you have to actually plan out a date night, take turns between the wife and the husband planning a date. Whoever’s turn it is to plan the date, keep everything a surprise. This can be very fun and exciting for both of you and allow you to spend time together as well.
Have fun in your everyday life as well. When you are in a marriage with someone (especially for a long time) things may sometimes seem like they are getting boring. This is usually from doing the same thing day after day without any changes. The thing is that you and your spouse can have fun in your everyday life. You can tickle each other, read a book together, tease each other, tell each other jokes or anything that can get you both smiling and laughing. The more smiling that you and your spouse do in your marriage the less boredom there will be.
Your marriage can be fun once again. With the tips that are talked about above you can get rid of the boredom that you feel in your marriage. From this point forward, once you or your spouse begin to feel bored, try to do something to spice things up. There are so many options: change the schedule around, spend more time together, go on a date, do something to make yourself and your spouse laugh and much more. Don’t let boredom ruin your marriage. Your marriage can be enjoyable and it should be.
