As a boy I always wanted to achieve the best for myself, and I was constantly daydreaming about my vision for my life. I wanted to begin my career in the field of acting, and this path was not easy, because it’s said that the success rate is considered to be 1% - A well known fact. As a young man I moved to Delhi, India and began looking for opportunities to act, but at first I couldn’t secure even a single role, because I wasn’t a trained actor, and I was one of 10 thousand others who were looking for a similar opportunity. It has been said that if you want to become an actor there must be something extremely unique about your personality, which assists you with differentiating yourself from the rest – That there should be something about your acting that you can do better than anyone else. After recognizing the monumental challenges that were present, I chose to look for an acting school in order to harness the power of my passion through formalized training. However, this required money that I didn't have and that my parents weren't willing to provide.
Paying a Pittance?
Then I thought of doing some simple work so that I could earn money, and I joined a music shop that paid me a pittance. I wasn’t making enough money, but I could see no other options. One day I was working in the shop and a group of four girls came in to look around – At that time I didn’t have a girlfriend, so I didn’t like the reminder. However, they were at the shop that I was responsible for operating, so it was incumbent upon me to assist them with their search for a unique type of music for their band. They flipped through a thousand CDs, but they didn’t purchase anything, which became frustrating for me, because they were only increasing my work, and I was paid so little. They could tell that I was frustrated when I told them that I would not assist them with finding any more CDs, which hurt their feelings. I was sad about this, and at 8pm I saw them outside of the shop as I closed for the day.
Remembering My Skills
In my frustration I had forgotten that I was very popular in school due to my music collections, which included a variety of albums that were relatively unknown and sung by very talented singers. This had worked in my favor in the past, so I decided to tell them about my collection. Every time I felt some kind of tension about what was next with my acting career without my full engagement with training, I remembered that I needed to focus. On the next morning I handed one of my hand-selected discs to them and went back to work in the shop. About 1-month later, the same group of girls came back and told me that they played the CD at one of their college parties, and it was a hit. They told me that I should be a radio DJ, which shifted my focus away from acting and onto something that seemed to match my personality.
Becoming a Radio DJ
Inspired by this I decided to give it a shot and took my leave from work for 1-week so that I could search for vacancies as a radio DJ, and I eventually heard about an audition that seemed right. I auditioned and the judges liked my style and music selection. Next came the day when I would be tested live on the air, and although I was very nervous, I remembered what my mother and father said to me once, “When you play, play to win or do not play at all.” I prayed to God that my show would go smoothly, and it turned out to be a great success. The people in the town loved my show, which had become a hit. Since then I have been giving back to the community by helping young aspirants like me to realize their dreams. I currently provide free training to groups of students on music and how to do the work that I do, which has been a wonderful opportunity to share my experience and contribute to the lives of others.
