Anger is an emotion that continuously keeps you in a state of lost control. It is easy to get angry at someone or about something, but it's even more difficult to control anger. There are two things anger can do to your body.

Anger can control your life-

When you get angry, your life is under the control of hatred and negative feelings. You can stop the hate and negativity when you learn how to control your anger.

  • Center on peaceful thoughts: Everyone gets angry. Emotions flip-flop constantly, but when you let your emotions run amok, you let anger control your life. You have to keep anger at bay with peaceful thoughts. Think of happier times instead of the bad. By creating peaceful thoughts, you create control over your anger.
  • Overlook petty things: A minor argument is no reason to get upset and fly off the handle. When you do, you let anger control your actions. By overlooking petty things, you put anger on the back-burner.
  • Never say words in haste: 'Words can never hurt' is how the childhood saying goes, but words do hurt. Words leave an everlasting effect on people. If you never say words in haste, then your anger will never rise up.
  • Take a step back and access the situation: Is getting angry worth the effort? When you get angry, your life is out of control. If you take a step back and access the situation, you will save yourself a lot of trouble.
  • Realize other people will get hurt: Getting angry does not only affect you, but other people as well. When you lose your temper, it has adverse effects that carry over to others. If you realize other people will get hurt by your actions, then you learn to keep your cool.
  • Open up to others: Most people don't like talking about their feelings, but anger is an emotional turmoil swirling inside that needs to be released. When you open up to others, they can help you manage your anger with suggestions and understanding.
  • Learn to take charge of your feelings: Taking charge of your feelings is like trying to take charge of an angry bee. Your feelings can overpower your thoughts and anger will erupt. If you learn to take charge of your feelings by counting to ten or going for a walk, anger stays put.

Anger can kill you-

Losing your temper creates tremendous stress in your life and on your body. Stress weakens your immune system, it wreaks havoc on your emotions, and it ruins your life. Anger can kill you, if you don't learn how to control it.

  • Kick anger to the curb: Anger is dangerous for everyone involved. If you don't start controlling anger, it will kill you. Start by kicking anger to the curb. You can do this with deep-soothing breaths, yoga, long walks, or writing in a journal.
  • Ignore anger: Sometimes it is difficult to ignore anger, but if you want to stay healthy, you have to ignore it. Anger is a burden on your health. It creates havoc and complicates your life. You can learn to ignore anger by keeping your mind focused on other things. If you have a busy mind and don't have time to be idle, anger doesn't have time to take control.
  • Let it go: Once anger takes hold, it is hard to let it go. However, if you don't let it go, it will become cumbersome and overbearing. Anger is like a blister that festers when picked at all the time. If you let it go, it heals. It's the same with anger, if you let it go, you will start to heal your soul.
  • Leave it alone: Some people like to agitate and when that happens, anger flairs. When someone is trying to make you angry, leave it alone. It's not easy to walk away, but it is the best solution. When you let people get to you, you are endangering your well-being. Anger hurts everyone, and it can kill you when the stress caused by losing your temper invades your body and worry builds up. Walk away from anger and leave it someplace else.

Controlling anger takes a lot of practice. However, it is not an easy thing to do. You have to be prepared to make changes and turn anger into love.
