Empowering Yourself Through Education
You probably know people who had big dreams when they were teenagers, didn’t you? You probably had big dreams yourself. Most people have some idea what they want to do by the time they are in their early teens. So why do so many people give up these big dreams and settle for mediocrity? This article is about how the value of education can free you from your fears to live the life you always dreamed of. No it is not always about money but there is some truth that if you follow your passions then the money will follow. Just ask any writer who is paying their way through life. It just takes a great deal of personal growth and self-development.
Knowledge Is Potentially Powerful
You have no doubt heard that knowledge is power, haven’t you? Of course knowledge can also corrupt but that usually only happens to those who forget where they came from only to become full of themselves. You can do anything you want to do with your life but first you have to have a plan on how to get there. Once you have developed that plan you have to have the stamina to carry it out. This is why so many, about 80% is a good estimate, give up on their dreams and settle for average jobs. Not that there is anything wrong with those jobs as someone has to do them. There is value to all types of work.
Developing A Plan
How do you develop a plan for what you want to do with your life? The first thing you do is educate yourself on your chosen career path. Teach what classes you need to take in high school and what type of post-secondary education you need to get. As you develop passion you find the motivation. Personal growth and education are not mutually exclusive. In order to grow you have to educate yourself.
There is another saying that if you don’t know where you are going then you are lost. Make a plan and stick with it. Don’t let yourself get distracted. Most people want the American Dream of having a soul mate, a few kids, and a nice house. To follow these before you are established is to put the cart before the horse only to end up derailing yourself. Then you have to take a job you never really wanted which makes it even more stressful.
This is a big reason so many people have stress-related physical illnesses and mental illnesses, because they allow themselves to become trapped in a job they hate and all because they didn’t have the courage to follow their passions. Then when they get placed on medicines they play the victim and tell themselves how hard life is and that they have an imbalance that keeps them down. The only one keeping you down is yourself. If you want to get back up then it is going to take a more serious attitude about personal growth and self-development. You are in control of your own life. Life is only as hard as you make it. That goes for educating yourself in whatever you want to do, whether it is to overcome the new mental illness or addiction you are diagnosed with or get back on track and pursue a career.
You can also educate yourself on money management. Just because you got stuck in a job you hate does not mean you have to give up your dreams. Especially with all of the opportunities there are on social media these days. If you can make your money work for you then you won’t have to work so hard for it. Then you can save money up, possibly cut back on work and pursue your passion on the side until you have enough to launch yourself full-time into it.
Knowledge is power, and even the bible says “without knowledge my people perish” in the book of Proverbs. Knowledge is not innate so you have to go after it. There is no excuse for lack of knowledge when everything is accessible on the Internet and even at your fingertips on your smartphone.
The explosion of technology in recent years could launch another Renaissance where people experience a sudden rebirth of learning and strive toward self-development and personal growth in order to empower themselves. People that have been enslaved for years to lost hope. The years can be restored but it does take commitment and effort to pursue it. One example is what is going on in the United States and potentially around the world these days. There are currently 1/3 of the population working as freelancers and no one can figure out why the “unemployment” is so high; because people have taken charge of their destinies and are tired of being slaves. They are making developing themselves and making a commitment to personal growth in order to find something more fulfilling in their life. It is even estimated that by the end of the decade nearly half of the population will be self-employed. As long as you know what you are doing by educating yourself and you are passionate and driven then you can make it.
