If you look at the most successful people, you will find that they do certain things each day that have directly resulted in them getting to where they are and staying where they are. Small habits and schedule changes can have a major impact on how your day goes and how much you are able to get done. Start working these small changes into your life and you are sure to notice a positive difference.
Tackle the Most Difficult Projects First
This might be something that you already do, but if not, change your schedule to reflect this. You tend to be most motivated when you start your work day and this translates to a boost in your productivity. Toward the end of the day, you start to get tired and you are looking forward to going home and this can cause you to procrastinate on the biggest projects, leaving them unfinished by the time you leave work.
Visualize Yourself Getting It All Done
Take five minutes each morning as soon as you wake up to visualize yourself getting everything checked off of your to-do list. This puts you in the frame of mind to be productive. This is a simple exercise that you can do before you ever get out of bed. Just guide yourself through your day and see yourself putting check marks on your to-do list and you will find that you do indeed start getting more done.
Get Some Early Morning Exercise
No one wants to wake up earlier than they have to, but if you switch your workout time to the morning, you will find that you have more energy and that you start off your day in a positive frame of mind. Remember that you do not have to exercise for an hour to get the full benefits either. A quick 15 minute workout in the morning is often enough for you to energize yourself and get your day started off with ready to tackle the world.
Do Not Immediately Check Your Email
Many people immediately go to their email as soon as they get to work and you should stop this. Instead, dedicate the first hour of your day to diving right into your biggest project. You will find that you are getting things done faster and that you are taking a major bite out of the project that you are most likely to procrastinate on. After that first hour, quickly check your email, respond to urgent emails and then logout. Check your email once every two hours for the rest of the day so that you can keep up without getting constantly distracted.
Take Care of All Customer Matters
Your customers are your bread and butter so they should always come first when you arrive at work. For example, if you know that some customers are having issues with a specific product or service, as soon as you clock in, get started on solving their problem for them. This will get your day started off on the right foot and it also lets your customers know that you always put their needs above all else. Once you get all of the customer matters straightened out, you can move on to the other important tasks of the day.

Steve Jobs is one of the most successful people of modern times and every day he told himself that this is the last day he will be able to get things done. This serves as a motivator to tackle all aspects of your life and leave nothing unfinished that should have been done today. This does not mean to check off your entire bucket list, but it means that if today were your last day, someone would be able to come in tomorrow and not be bogged down with unfinished business.
As you can see, all of these are relatively simple to accomplish and they do not require any intensive effort. These are simple changes that you can make to your day and only require that you shuffle your schedule a bit to accomplish them. You do not have to use all of them, but the more you use, the more you are living like the most successful people of the time.
