And they can stop their growth at any level too. So any culture is actually a type of layer cake with different percentages of the population at each of these major levels of rainbow altitudes stages. But the overall second-tier level is the only major one so far that thinks the other levels are important, that they exist for a reason, that they are performing some sort of crucial role in the overall growth and development of humans. And indeed they are. Each of these stages is a needed component in our own overall growth and development. Nor can any be skipped or deleted just as you can't get from atoms to cells and skip molecules. Every stage is important and needed. And second-tier alone seems to intuitively understand this. So development to this higher integral level of being an awareness is a crucial component of any lasting solution of any of our truly serious problems. Once again, if we look at Conscious Capitalism by Mackey and Sisodia, we find the author strongly recommending quote, "evolving to higher levels of consciousness in stages."
And they mention as examples the work of Maslow, Colbert, Graves, my own work and so on. And on using Conscious Capitalism as an example throughout simply to show that even hard-headed disciplines like business can be aware of these major AQAL elements and any truly integral approach in any area will indeed include them, which is what Mackey and Sisodia's approach explicitly does. Now, the three highest and most recent levels to evolve in first-tier, which again includes 95% of the world's population so we're talking about most of the world here, but the three most recent levels in first-tier are the mythic, religious, traditional values, or amber, the modern, rational, scientific values, or orange, and the postmodern, multi-cultural values, or green. In other words exactly the three major values that are fighting in the cultural wars. Traditional versus modern versus postmodern. Each of those as a first-tier stage thinks that its values and its values alone are true and real. So green post modernism thinks that orange rational science and amber mythic religion or both social constructions and thus ultimately unreal.
Modern rational science on the other hand thinks that mythic religion is infantile and postmodern sensitivity is woo woo. And mythic religion thinks that both modern science and postmodern multiculturism are both bound for eternal hell fire. So who cares what they think anyway? And yet as we noted critics all agree that these three value sets the mythic traditional, the modern scientific, and the postmodern multi-cultural are the three value sets that are at war in the cultural wars. They are all still fighting for dominance in every area of human activity. They're fighting in education, in politics, in international policy, in spiritual ideas, in major cultural goals and pursuits. And not a single one of them nor virtually anybody else in culture for that matter sees that each of them is in fact coming from a well-recognized ultimately partial and limited stage of human development.
