Then he went to up to everyone as we were standing in a single file line under the stairwell, and he started going to people and saying, "What is your dream? What do you love?" And he got to me, and I said, "I really want to be a speaker. I always wanted to be a transformation leader." And he said, "Well that's so interesting because Jack Canfield and I are teaching a speaker training in two months in Austin. I'll send you a free ticket." And I said, "You're kidding me." He said, "No, I will." And he did, and I ended up going to his wonderful, wonderful speaker training and from there we became friends. And fast forward, he became business partners with Robert Allen and asked me if I'd be his business partner because here I was on the marketing division for the third largest book buyer in the United States. We sold our company to Reader's Digest for $360 million after seven years. And Mark thought, "God, she'd be perfect for us."
And so I started working for Mark Victor Hansen and Robert Allen as their business partner. We co-created a program called The Enlightened Millionaire, and we put on conferences. And the first conference we put on was in La Jolla, California, and I was just doing all the logistics. I was putting the whole seminar together, doing everything for them, all the back stuff. They were the rock stars, and right before the seminar, the day before they walk into my office and they said, "Janet, we got a TV show. We can't be there the first two hours tomorrow morning." And I said, "What do you mean you can't be there the first two hours tomorrow morning? Who's going to speak?" And they started laughing, and they said, "You are." And I said, "What do you mean I am?" I said, "I don't want to be a speaker. I'm not speaker yet." And he said, "No, you are." And they walked out and, Eric, I got to tell you, I was so freaked out, and stayed up all night long. And I put together this little...the only thing I had was this little passion test that I had.
And the next morning, I walked out on the stage of the scariest 500 people I have ever seen, and for the next two hours...I don't even remember what I said, but at the end of those two hours everyone stands up, and I got a standing ovation. And I would actually say that was the true, true birth of the passion test because that is when I went, "Oh my God, I think I have something here." So there you have it.
