7 Guidelines for a Happy Life
When it comes to happiness, many people do not think that it is fully achievable, however, this could not be further from the truth. You can be happy and live a life that is full of good memories when you know what it takes to be happy. It is actually quite simple, but it can take time to fully put into practice. You are essentially changing how you think about things and how you see the world around you. Do not fret because with a little time, you will find that you are naturally a much happier person.
Let Go of Your Past
Your past is your past and no matter what happened then should not be able to affect you today. Do not dwell on the bad things that once happened because this only spoils your efforts for a happier and more content future. It is important that you let go of everything and put your focus on today and what can happen tomorrow. When you focus on the past, you are robbing yourself of the ability to be fully happy with all of the great things that you currently have.
Time is a Healer
Time makes it a lot easier to cope with the things that caused you to hurt and feel negative in the past. This does not mean that you ever forget things like lost loved ones, but with time, the hurt of losing them becomes more bearable. This is a difficult task, especially for those who have lost loved one that they were really close to. At times, it might seem impossible to feel better, but you will and time will help you.
Do Not Over Think Things
This is another hard one because humans naturally tend to over think things, especially negative things. When someone happens, know that you do not have to have all of the answers. In fact, it is not possible for people to have all of the answers to everything. You need to take responsibility for what you can change and then leave the rest behind. Over thinking only serves as a distraction for your happiness.
Stop Caring About What Others Think
It is not your business when it comes to what others think of you. If you are a good person doing good things, that is all that matters. Everyone has someone that does not like them for whatever reason and there is not much you can do to change this. Simply accept, move on and put your focus on the people in your life who love you.
You Are the Reason for Your Happiness
Stop searching for a time, event or person to make you happy and realize that you are in full control when it comes to your happiness. There is no need to place this burden on another person or feel as though you have to wait until a point in the future to be happy. Focus on the good in your life and start being happy today.
Stop Comparing Yourself to Others
There will always be someone out there who is stronger, faster and smarter. The key is to focus on what makes you a great person and stop comparing yourself to the people around you. Remember that no one has a perfect life and you never truly know what is going on with another person. Outside appearances can be very deceiving, so keep your focus on the great parts of yourself and your life and be happy about what you have to offer.
Take a Minute to Smile
When you smile, this is a quick way to alter a negative mood. If you are feeling down, head over to a mirror, look into it and simply smile. Take the time to smile at a stranger too. These will put you in a positive frame of mind and help you to be happier.
Take not of all seven of these rules and work to make them a part of your life. Do not expect an overnight transformation, but know that it is not that difficult to find yourself happier and more content with yourself. Just try to really focus on these when things get tough because all seven of them are most important during the roughest times in your life. Being happy does not mean that you can never experience other emotions. It is all about balance and following these guidelines will ensure that you can strike that important balance.
